Recycled Rythyms


Clonakilty Community Arts Centre will host a week of creative, fun and informative workshops all building up to the finale event on Culture Night.

  • 11 – 1pm, Tuesday 19th in Clonakilty Community Arts Centre – Vocal workshop – Exploring using the voice and singing together.
  • 11 – 1pm, Wednesday 20th in The Grace Centre – Patterns of Rhythm – A workshop using printing, painting and fabric to decorate and personalise instruments to be created in the Recycled Rhythms workshop.
  • 2 – 4pm, Thursday 21st  in Clonakilty Community Arts Centre – Recycled Rhythms – A workshop combining sustainability and music making. Rubbish and unwanted household items will be used to create instruments including djembes, hand held frame drums and shakers.
  • Friday 22nd – Culture Night! – All workshop participants are invited to meet for the final workshop at 5.30pm with community musician John Bowker. John is the creator of Tribal Spirit Drumming and is also a very talented facilitator working with many different groups of people across Ireland, encouraging people to make magical music through drumming and singing.
    At 7pm, we will have a fun procession through the town and join Culture le Cheile event at the Culture Dome in the Community Garden for an evening of song, drumming, tattooing, eating and fun.

All the workshops are accessible to everyone, from complete beginners to professional musicians, from children to adults. Come along and make beautiful music with us. Please call Lorraine on 086 312 1374 for final details and times of workshops.
