‘Mammy through the Post Box’ – another instalment in the life of Eileen O’Brien, written and performed by Karen Minihan.
When Karen first read her Monologue ‘Eileen’ in the Blue House Gallery for Culture Night in 2013, she was so taken with the audience reaction that she decided to perform the piece herself and so took to the roads of West Cork, performing over two years in halls, buses, hotel rooms, bars and galleries and the CAT Club in Cork.
In this next instalment the divorce that had begun in the first Monologue is finalised and she has moved out of the bungalow, the former family home. Mammy has taken ‘a turn’ and Eileen, of course, bears the brunt of the caring; despite the best efforts of her sister, Noelle, hapless brother Daithí and exuberant friend, Marilyn.’
Blue House Gallery Schull show a mixture of contemporary paintings, sculpture, photography and ceramics by West Cork, National and International artists.
