Experience life and time since 1777 as a merchant tradesman, gaoler, prisoner, clock winder and family home. Visitors can move through the inner stairs of the four-storey tower to learn about its diverse past as a local time-keeper, gaol and centre of trade.

Led by an expert costumed guide, this iconic building’s story of love, generosity and friendship as well as pain, tragedy and rebellion are literally brought to life through a sensory experience that includes smelling the spices in the Merchants Quarters, touching silks, testing the bed and bathroom facilities in the gaol cell, reading the accounts of the gaoler and winding the enormous clock.
